This Privacy Policy page describes which kind of information I’m collecting and how this information is used by me. If you have additional questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
This site is so-called Data Controller, according to the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDRP). The legal basis for collecting and using your personal information depends on the exact kind of information I am collecting and the specific context of the collection. But, generally speaking, there 4 main reasons why I could collect your data:
- I need to perform a contract with you
- You have given me your prior permission to collect your data
- Processing your personal information is in my “legitimate interest”
- I have to comply with the European/German law
I will always retain your personal information only for as long as is necessary. Also, I will retain and use your information only to the extent necessary to comply with my (legal) obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce my policies.
If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA) or the European Union (EU), you have certain data protection rights:
- The right to access, update or to delete the information I have on you.
- The right of rectification.
- The right to object.
- The right of restriction.
- The right to data portability
- The right to withdraw consent

Log Files
This website creates log files if you visit the site. The information collected by log files includes your internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), hostname, date and time stamp and referring pages. I use this information to defend my server infrastructure against various kinds of online attacks, to detect system errors or to provide information to law enforcement authorities, if ever necessary. The IP address and hostname is partially anonymized and only stored for a short period of time (24h). Collecting this data is a legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Cookies
Like most websites, Dennis Lux.com uses cookies: Small text files stored on your computer containing information about your personal preferences or preferred website settings. You can divide cookies into main two categories: Necessary cookies, like session cookies or language preference cookies and not necessary cookies, like tracking cookies or social media cookies. I strive to use as less cookies as possible. Also, I will only set the necessary cookies if you visit the site, in compliance with the GDPR’s legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). If I want to set the not necessary cookies (tracking, social media, targeting, analytics) I will always ask you beforehand, so the decision is up to you (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR).
Email contact
If you contact me via email, your message content including all meta data (sender name, sender address, email headers and so on) will be stored on my servers for the purpose of processing your request. The storing and processing is either based on your explicit prior consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR) and/or on my legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR), as I have a legitimate interest in effectively processing the inquiries sent to me. The data you send me via email will remain on my servers until you request me to delete it, revoke your consent or until the purpose for storing the data no longer applies (e.g. after your request has been processed).
Contact form
If you use the contact form at the “Contact me” to get in touch with me, your message content including all meta data (sender name, sender address, email headers, Discord tag and so on) will be stored on my servers for the purpose of processing your application. The storing and processing is only based on your explicit consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). The data you send me via contact form form will remain on my servers until you request me to delete it, revoke your consent or until the purpose for storing the data no longer applies (e.g. after your request has been processed). I am also using SSL/TLS based encryption to ensure your message and personal data will not be stolen or modified during the transmission.
Third Party Services
I am using some third party services. These third party services have their own privacy polices and often process your data in countries outside of the European Union. In most cases, I will not force you to use these third party services, but I will ask for your agreement beforehand. Please be aware that at the moment you agree, these third party service can obtain some of your personal data (like your IP address or your hostname). If you own an account at any of these services and you’re logged in, they can also know that you’re visiting Dennis Lux.com.
CloudFlare
I am using CloudFlare. CloudFlare is an online security service provider that helps me to protect my website, server infrastructure and visitors against various kinds of online attacks, like bot-driven email and data scraping, massive spam campaigns and (Distributed) Denial of Service attacks. The usage of CloudFlare is a legitimate interest of the website’s operator according to Article 6(1)(f) GDPR and GDPR Recital 49. CloudFlare itself is operated by CloudFlare Inc, located in 1355 Market Street, Downtown San Francisco, California, United States. It is necessary for CloudFlare to process some of your personal data in order to provide its services.
